1.   Summary

This product bulletin announces the availability of the iSCSI Solaris Host Utilities 3.0 for Native OS for First Customer Ship.

The iSCSI Solaris Host Utilities provide a set of documentation and utilities for simplifying configuration and troubleshooting of Solaris iSCSI deployments connecting to NetApp storage systems.

2.   What's New?

The iSCSI Solaris Host Utilities 3.0 for Native OS are the follow-on release of the Solaris iSCSI Support Kit 1.0. The naming scheme has been changed to match that of Fibre Channel Host Utilities.

1.       Support for Solaris 10 Update 2 software iSCSI initiator (Solaris 10 Update 2 is sometimes also referred to as Solaris 10 6/06 Release). In this release of Solaris, Sun introduced:

·         Support for Multiple Sessions per Target (MS/T). This allows host to create multiple iSCSI sessions to a single target.

·         Support for iSCSI ‘static discovery’. This corrects a known issue found in Solaris 10 Update 1 with the Sun™ native software initiator.

3.   Sales Tools (Sales Guides, Training Presentations, SE Presentations)

·    Not applicable.

4.   Customer-Ready Tools (Customer Presentations, Datasheets)

·      Not applicable.

            Unsupported Platforms

The following lists the configurations not supported by the iSCSI Solaris Host Utilities:

·         Internet Storage Name Service (iSNS) – Although Sun claims support for iSNS client support with Solaris 10 Update 2 iSCSI, NetApp does not support this due to known issues discovered in testing & which remain unresolved (See Public Burt #230557).
